I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for dealing with es kids who constantly argue. During the summer I rotate from classroom to classroom substituing with the kids who get no summer vacation. I'm mainily just giving there usual staff breaks during the day and the kids have various issues but I would say it's emotional support kids that require extra services beyond just normal academics. The ages vary from 5- 18 in different rooms, needless to say going one room to the next can be tough.  My backround is in working with kids on the autism spectrum as a behavior therapist and my summer work at the school is quite the change.  The biggest issue is the arguing between certain kids as well as the tattle tailing. I'm attempting to catch the kids being good and reinforce the behavior I want but alot of the time certain kids are already out of the group or unable to particapte when I get there do to prior behavior and I'm just covering the classrooms not working with the kids full time. Basically just an hour here and there. Any advice appreciated and please excuse any spelling mistakes I'm typing from my phone.

I think the answer is in the end of your question, why not engage the children with an iTouch or an iPhone?

These devices are instant hits esp children in the age groups mentioned.

Am not too sure if that's a relevant suggestion, let me know.
Thanks for the reply! How do you use those devices in your classrooms? I do someties use my phone or pda with kids i work with after school at my night job which is with one kid with autism. I wouldn't mind using technology more with kids at school summer program but it is kind of an iffy situation due to the schools policies toward devices like that, getting it authorized by admin which could take the rest of summer and needing permisson slips signed, returned for each kid. The way i would explain the area is a more rural, slow to change and lower funding area. I do have a computer in some of the rooms but not all rooms, it is more of a summer program where you work with the kids where you can as they do summer matinence on the rest of school. That being said the people i work for and with have the best intentions and i believe i could work to get in more technology and positive behavior supports during the actual school year. The core issue i would like to improve on with the summer group is my handling of various behaviors i would group together as manipulative(lying, teasing, disrespecting verbally towards peers). I am used to breaking down the function of behavior of students exhibiting more extreme behaviors but they are usually aimed at me or the teacher not so much between the peers as i am dealing with in the summer
