In response to Laura... I have used the HDMI cable with my iPad2, but I am not sure what you mean about with a with an IWB. We can project the iPad screen on the board (any board or wall for that matter) but we can not use the interactive capabilities of the board unless the board is connected to the iPad. I plug the HDMI cable into my projector and switch the source from the VGA (computer) to the HDMI. I can then switch between the computer image projected or the iPad image being projected, depending on what we need to look at during the lesson.

I posted a blog about the bluetooth keyboard and HDMI cable, my 2 favorite iPad accessories so far.

I listed my class's favorite apps in reply to a blog post on Brainpop. I put a copy of our reply on my blog.

After spending a few days with an iPad2, I wrote a blog about my first impressions. I do appreciate the cameras and it is definitely lighter than the original model. I have yet to decide if the speed makes enough of a difference to justify an upgrade. After more time using it on a day-to-day basis I will blog about the comparison to the original model. Soon 3 more iPads will be delivered for my classroom. So far, I have had only one and I can't wait to have THREE! Oh the possibilities...

Would like to hear about anyone who has used their iPad2 with the HDMI cable and an interactive whiteboard. Have you used the iPad apps on the interactive whiteboard with much success?

Thanks David!  I do love the Splashtop app and how smooth it is to operate.  It was also good to hear that your firewall did not block the app.  I've had one problem with it when I was at a hotel and was trying to link the two, aside from that it's been easy.

Blu...I a new convert to QR codes and already see the power of using them in and around classes.  As the new iPad2 begins to pop up in schools, teachers will be able to utitilze the camera on the back to allow their students to do some of these dynamic activities.

I created a lesson on St. Patrick's life and utilize QR codes that link to portions of text on the web as students study 3 key images.  If you'd like to see/try this lesson out, you can visit http://blog.teachtci.com/st-patricks-day-lesson.

The video posted by Brian Thomas was very helpful. My teachers are thrilled about using it to control (and share control of) their computer as they move about the room. While there are other devices that provide that functionality, the ipad provides that and much more. For what it's worth - the software that Brian demonstrated did not require special changes to our firewall or network. Runs fine on a DHCP network.

We just got about 20 iPads in our school. I'm interested in hearing about what works and what doesn't with 5th graders.

I am an iPad using elementary school teacher. Throughout the year I have been using one iPad in my classroom for small group instruction, individual skill development, lesson planning, scheduling, you name it. I have now ordered 3 more iPads and decided to start a blog about my experiences. So i am now the "iPad Teacher" (ipadteacher.blogspot.com). I think it will be fun to blog and I have a very long list of ideas to blog about already. I am looking forward to collaborating with a group of other iPad teachers!

Where’s the Silver Lining for Education?

With the cloud of the Corona Virus hanging over us and growing by the hour, it is difficult to see any silver lining. Health and safety are our greatest concerns. The stakes are high and the consequences may be fatal to too many. Anything I discuss here shouldIn the past, many discussions by several education leaders have sometimes suggested the idea of education reform…See More
