About Digin4ed

I have a broad background in business and financial analysis, economics, information technology and education. A couple years ago, I changed my focus to serving as an educator in higher education. I believe post secondary education (particularly at community colleges) plays an increasingly critical role in the economic vitality of our community and nation, as well as the quality of life for those in our area. This area faces an increasingly complex set of simultaneous challenges in this time of globalization, economic stress and societal transformation fueled by information technology. I look forward to being part of meeting this challenge as an educator, employee, colleague, collaborator, messenger, or in whatever other forms that may arise.

I teach Economics and Finance on-ground at Monroe Community College and online at Colorado Technical University. I have also taught at Nazareth College and Ashford University.


I have been active in the Social Media Club's Education Connection since it kicked off in 2009. The project continued to grow and in 2010 I became one of the initial members of their Board of Advisers. As we set off on the mission of the group, it became apparent the the need had grown for a significantly broader program. In June of 2011, I became the Interim Executive Director and Chair of the BOA for SMCEDU. We are now in the process of building our infrastructure, putting together initiatives, and working toward the 501(c)(3) designation for our new organization:

 

The Social Media Global Education Connection Project (SMGECP).

The SMGECP mission is “To provide leadership, guidance, facilitation and resources to students, educators, and administrators in educational organizations that will promote and enable competent usage of social media by the world’s citizens, workforces, educational institutions, and societies."  Our focus is directed around Higher Education Organizations.

 

Our chats are on Wednesdays at 12 Noon ET and 9PM ET. Join us via the hashtag #SMEDU.

 

This project grew out of, and is sponsored by the Social Media Club, Inc: the non-profit global trade association of social media professionals which was founded in 2006. SMC has 300 + chapters and 300,000 + members.

 

Note: I passed off my role as Lead Manger of the Higher Education Teaching and Learning (HETL) Group on LinkedIn in February of 2011. I still remain on the Board of Advisers.

I am a very open net worker with other educators, regardless of what level or subject they teach, where they teach or what their experience level is.
