This perfectly reflects everything we learn in class about social networking. We really have to learn how to properly use it if we expect to go anywhere with the quality of education.
I like the point Professor Whitby made about the kids not having a choice whether or not to use technology in their learning. This is a good point because every day these kids are being introduced to new gadgets that they are using in their everyday lives. As teachers, appealing to what the kids already know, we have to be able to gain a mastery of these technologies and use them to propel the students further in their education.
I can relate to everything here not just from our methods class, but also because in the schools I observe in, technology is being used on a daily basis. I can see the positive effects this incorporation of technology has on the students and how supportive they are of using it in the classroom. Not only smartboard technology, but also powerpoint and media programs, help the students to be more active in their education and help them to glean more from their learning experience.

This was a terrific panel, and everything you said was spot on. I met today with a school superintendent and wouldn't let him off the hook about not being on Twitter; he had just come from a meeting of local superintendents, with whom he is also on a listserve; I explained that he meets and emails these colleagues because they share common challenges and help each other work through them - which is exactly what you do on Twitter, except that your network is fathoms larger than the superintendents from the closest 10 districts. I'm sure there are many times he writes to his listserve "has anyone ever encountered a situation where......" and gotten no response. That is much less likely to happen on Twitter. So what I've done for him is create a Twitter list of school superintendents and principals that I follow, and I'm sending him the URL, so he can read the most recent Tweets. Several times a week. Until I see his face on a Twitter account.
